25 years of knowing what this ground does
Western South Dakota is not easy dirt. Expansive clay that swells and shrinks with moisture. Granite and limestone a few feet down through the Hills. Runoff that concentrates fast off steep terrain. A build season that opens late and closes early.
Anybody can rent an excavator. Knowing that a pad needs to be undercut before the fill goes in, that a trench has to be compacted in lifts or the driveway will sink next spring, and that a gravel road without a crown is just a ditch — that is what 25 years buys you.
